Birthday and Bedtime

Katy turned one year old this past Thursday but we just had the celebration on Sunday. We allowed her to have a nap after church and then held a party at three. After much gesturing and loud indications about the cupcakes, we finally gave her one with a picture of Nemo on it and and candle. After Poppi helped her blow out the candle, she hesitantly picked up the cupcake and took a bite. It didn't take her long to get the picture and demolish the remainder. We then moved on to the presents. I remember when I was a kid and was given loads of presents. The tradition has now been passed to our child as she was showered with gifts that quickly hid her from view of the camera. She played with them for a while and moved on after a while to a nap.

She doesn't mind napping, but apparently going to bed is now a chore. We were about to put her to bed and she actually tried crawling quickly away from us! She apparently now knows what bedtime means and doesn't like the prospect. She doesn't complain after being put to bed, but she sure knows how to pull at the heart strings already.

As a side note, her doctor's visit today told us that she is 19 pounds 15 ounces, 27 inches, and a head circumference off the charts - definitely her mother's daughter :)

Very fun!! Glad to hear everything's good with you. Did Katy get the card with the "picture" from Bekah? Katy's very close to what Bekah was at that age, 19 lbs. 11 lbs., 29.5 inches. Talk to you soon!!

Happy Birthday, Katy!

That is So funny about her head. David is the total opposite. He is the 98th percentile for height and then the 25th for his head. He is so big for his age that everyone think she is about one and a half. At 9 months he was 31 inches long and 20-something pounds. I can't believe how much he has grown since being a NICU baby. Aren't they just amazing!
