In Threes...

If bad things come in threes, I'm waiting to be zapped by lightning. Today was an exciting day to say the least, but not a good kind of exciting. Today was the first day of school -- a great day. I had made it all the way to fourth period when something odd happened. Stephen showed up at school. Now that in and of itself isn't that odd. Sometimes Stephen visits for lunch, but it wasn't lunchtime. Then I knew it. Something was wrong...

"First of all, they're fine, but your mom and Katelyn have been in an accident." Of course my heart stopped anyway. I called the office, and they quickly assured me that things would be taken care of, and we left. When we got there, Mom was in the ER at Anderson Community Hospital. They had both been admitted but had yet to see the doctor. Katy was fine from what we could tell, and Mom was stiff. Turns out, after exams and xrays, they're both just that -- fine and sore. Jacquie (my sister-in-law) is going to watch Katy for the rest of the week, and Mom is going to take it easy. Thank the Lord they are ok, because here's what the car looks like:
An older lady pulled out in front of Mom, and she just had enough time to brake a little bit. That tipped the nose of the car down, and the impact was about as good as it could be for the situation. Everyone involved is OK as far as we know. Now they're going through the process of insurance, etc. Whew. Every time I look at that picture, I'm grateful to still have my mom and my baby around. Some people have lost others in the same circumstances. We are blessed and thankful that God has chosen to keep them with us for another day.

Anna told me about the wreck yesterday when I picked her up, but there was no word yet on how everybody was. I'm glad to hear both of them are OK!

I found a quote I think you'll like! (Especially for Katy....)

Being born in a duck yard does not matter, if only you are hatched from a swan's egg. — Hans Christian Andersen
