Mmmmmm......Gook!

I took Katy outside yesterday to play in (what was to her) waist-deep snow. Those of you who have previously bundled up children know what an ordeal it was to get her into her snowsuit, put her boots on, convince her that mittens were a good thing to wear, etc. And, as an added bonus, I had to wrangle my ever-growing belly into a few layers so that I could play with her. Eventually we both managed to appear snow-ready and went outside to join Stephen, who was clearing our driveway. We walked along to a cleared spot, and I let Katy decide how much she wanted to interact with the snow. I already knew she loved walking in it, but I wanted to see what she would do on her own.

It wasn't all that impressive. She loves eating ice, so she came up with a variation for snow. She leaned over, plunged her hand into the snow bank, and pulled out a snow-encrusted mitten. She then stuck it in her mouth and exclaimed, "Mmmmmmm! Gook!" which, when translated, means "I have never enjoyed a dining experience as much as this!" Actually, I wasn't too surprised at the snow eating. We have given her cups of snow, one of her favorite snacks, a few times before. What really made me laugh was that she didn't want to eat snow from a previously touched location. She had a mini-process of plunging, licking, and taking a step to the right so her next snow would come from a pristine spot. This process was repeated until she got to the street. :)

I'm trying to make sure her hat stays on.

Some strange masked man who wanted to hold Katy

Her royal cuteness -- please ignore snot-nose

You've got to make snow ice cream for her. It's the best!

Yes, the Fannin girls add variety. Thanks for posting a comment and I love your snow photos. Aren't they the best?

Hey. We like snow ice cream around here, and the dirt just adds a little something special.

It's one of the better pictures of me in existence at this time. You know, when you find one you like, you've got to hold on to it. :)

I think Katy is showing early leanings toward undue cleanliness with that plunging into fresh snow for each scoop. This post is too cute!
